This programme, funded by Children in Need, provides opportunities for young people aged 13-18 years old living in the Derry area to gain qualifications in Health and Wellbeing. Delivered across both St Josephs and St Cecilia’s secondary and offered out to local community groups. Improving young people's knowledge on internet safety, diversity and culture, relationships, healthy Lifestyles and enrichment activities. By providing a holistic approach addressing '5 ways to wellbeing'. Empowering the young people to make healthier life choices, increase their self-worth, confidence, positive coping mechanisms and have more control over their lives. Resulting in young people engaging better at school and improving their educational attainment.

The programme also facilitates the work and recruitment of the health champions. Ensuring they have the acquired skills and training, giving them experience to deliver health messages in schools / youth clubs, implement their cloud mind campaign, volunteer at summer interventions and be the voice of the young people in various youth advisory panels.

The Health Champions of the Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum are a group of 14-18 year olds who have come together with the common goal of achieving positive mental health for young people. They are the voice of the young people on various youth advisory panels; ensuring young people are supported to bring day-to-day issues to the forefront of service provision and working on solutions to those issues. Their priorities and focus are on mental health services for young people.

Since their first engagement with the Bogside and Brandywell Health forum on Mental Health day in October 2016, the champions have grown in confidence, capacity and numbers. Developing ‘Cloudmind’ – a website and group on social media to allow young people to lead on mental health messages and deliver peer led messaging on positive mental health. With the tag #beoktogether.
