Tearmann Support Programme
The ‘Tearmann’ programme (Tearmann meaning ‘Sanctuary’ in Irish) has been established in association with the Health Forum and the Bogside & Brandywell Women’s Group. The programme incorporates a support group for women coping with mental health issues such as depression & anxiety, which may involve panic attacks, stress, or other related problems. The aim of the programme is to assist and support local women to reach their maximum level of well being within a local and supportive environment.
Anne Mullin is a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Anne brings a creative approach to group therapy and works in various ways, all of which bring us into contact with ourselves. She works in a holistic way, seeing the whole person and respecting every part of the person; mind, body, spirit and emotions.
Anne is currently working in partnership with S.T.E.E.R. as an outreach counsellor. She will facilitate the group workshops on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00-5.00pm in the Dove House Centre. An on-site crèche is available free of charge for clients with pre-school age children. Places for this can be booked in advance.
Group places are available to all women who live within the Bogside, Brandywell and the greater Bishop Street neighbourhoods. All referrals are given an individual assessment by Anne prior to joining the group.
If you feel that you would benefit from group, please contact Karen or Anne Mullin on 71365330/71269327 between 2.00pm and 5.00pm on Wednesdays or simply call into the Health Forum at the Gasyard Centre, Lecky Road, Brandywell, Derry.
Foyle Tranquilliser Initiative
The Foyle Tranquilliser Initiative is an innovative effort to develop a partnership approach to identify and support effective means of supporting those individuals, families and communities affected by the overuse of tranquillisers. The FTI was established in 2002 and has successfully developed communication links between partner groups from the statutory, community and voluntary sectors. Communication between the partners is enhanced and supported by the publication of the biannual newsletter and quarterly meetings of the “Benzo Group”.
